Christopher Betts, a seasoned affordable housing expert, has been Director of CPC's Eastern Regional office in Albany since July 2006. Mr. Betts oversees the entire lending process from origination through underwriting, construction supervision and conversion to permanent financing.
He also oversees CPC's Special Needs Program for New York state which, since its 2001 inception, has financed over 81 special needs projects, housing over 1,535 people, throughout New York State with a total investment of more than $161 million.
Mr. Betts has more than 15 years experience in the area of finance, community development and financing affordable housing programs. He provides CPC with strong technical knowledge into several very complicated deals both in the Eastern Region, and outside of it. He works with CPC's current partners and develops new opportunities to meet the needs and challenges that face the Eastern New York region. Prior to this role, Mr. Betts served as an Assistant Vice President in CPC's Albany office, beginning in 2004.
Before joining CPC, Mr. Betts served as Senior Project Manager for The Community Builders, Inc., a Boston-based non-profit affordable housing development and community revitalization organization. Prior to that, Mr. Betts was Deputy Director and Director of Finance for Friends of Rehabilitation, Inc., a Philadelphia non-profit housing organization. From 1994 to 1996, he served as Assistant Deputy Mayor for the City of Philadelphia.
Mr. Betts lives in Delmar, NY, with his wife and their three boys. He earned a B.A. from Columbia University, a Master of Arts in Sociology from the State University of New York at Albany and a Master of Government Administration from the University of Pennsylvania.
